Week 9 MS Recap

GBR Middle School Match Recap

Granite Bay took on a solid Motherlode side this weekend and emerged victorious. With a final score of 35-12, GBR ended their regular season with a solid team win. While we started off slow, we quickly resumed the relentless pace we have been playing all season long. Solid forward 1 and 2 balls mixed with fast paced backline maneuvers proved to be too much for Motherlode to handle. Two more weeks of practice until the end of the year tournament – we’ll be rested and ready to play some more rugby!

Focus Points this week

  1. Continue to build on team play aspects. Work on off-loads and setting up teammates for great support runs.

  2. Technical skills. Passing & kicking need to improve as a team.

  3. Team Defense. Need to come up faster as a line, spacing has become an issue.

Player Spotlight

Back of the week – Bradley K. won back of the week for his defensive efforts, coupled with two game defining try’s. He continues to play tough defense, dealing out punishment in the form of powerful tackles.

Forward of the week – Billy H won forward of the week for stepping up & playing a great game at hooker. Injuries are a part of rugby, and everyone needs to be ready to step up and contribute at any moment. Good lineout throws and tough defense are things we come to expect from Billy now.

Well done this season GBR MS! Looking forward to the end of the year tournament!
