Week 7 12U Recap

GBR 12 Recap

This weekend the team took on strong competition from Elk Grove and Motley Rugby. The team did well passing the ball out of a tackle and swarming the opposing teams offensive attack. The forwards continue to work on the separation of players commit to the ruck, while also preparing for an offensive pod. The backs found great success off the edge and breaking the defensive line.

Dunedin T. got the team going with a long try against Elk grove, and then later an offload pass to David W. for a try. Andee T. had many successful runs and held the defensive edge making tackles or slowing down the opponents. Maximus R. continues to be effective on attack with a quick ball for corner try to start the second half and held his own on many defense tackles and has earned the Forward of the week. Full-back, Owen S. had some of the strongest runs for the backs this season, with a single run breaking nearly 6 tackles for a 50+ meter try has earned himself the Back of the week. The Rugger of the Week is Brody Walker, who had the opportunity to move from his traditional prop position, to passing the ball out as scrum-half and inserting himself in the backline as full back for a long try against Motley; finishing the day with 4 total tries.

Focus Points this Week

Defense: Understanding how to markup the opposing offense and attacking as one unit.
